Informative week-end for

Local Health Councils and Mutual Help Associations

With more and more pressing problems in health care, local communities in Romania have to mobilize to overcome this impasse. Over 25 communities have already taken the first steps in this regard through the development of Local Health Councils and Associations of Mutual Help, under the direction of the Foundation for the Development of Mutual Help  Association (www.fdaam.ro).
Between May the 7^th  to the 9^th, FDAAM creates an opportunity for these Local Health Councils and Mutual Help Associations to meet and to exchange best practices. The informative, formative and social program will be held at Viscri (Brasov), where are expected to attend approximately 80 volunteers and local coordinators of the LHCs and ADAMs, representatives of the local administrations and partners from Belgium.
Participants will seek practical solutions for improving the healthcare in the local communities by analyzing the actual situation, debating health problems and working on it in the thematic workshops. "It is a hard time, health solutions are difficult to find. Indeed it's true, but we are not the only ones searching for solutions. It is therefore necessary to meet, to find them together" says Jozef Goebels, president of FDAAM.
Local Councils Health and Mutual Help Associations are local health structures developed by the national foundation FDAAM, in partnership with organizations from Belgium. LHCs and ADAMs make an analysis of the health situation in a community and determine the socio-medical care to suit the needs of the people. Through the solidarity among beneficiaries, the public-private partnerships and the use of local resources, the LHCs and ADAMs manage to improve the access to quality health care for all members of a community.
FDAAM is a Romanian-Belgian NGO that works for 10 years to improve health system in Romania, with the support of its national and international partners, by developing initiatives in the socio-health care field.
